Can anyone recommend a nice place at stay at Christmas?

My partner and I and a 6 year old would like to go away for the Christmas week to a cottage or lodge. We like the look of Combe House or Bovey Castle both in Devon but would like more options before booking anywhere. we are not too fussy with the area we stay as long as its in the south (not far from home) and has a beutiful setting. Can anyone recommend anywhere?
