What does my bro mean when he says "last year" ?

I was stalking my brother (who social services took to a foster home 5 years ago) on youtube ( I just somehow found his youtube channel) and i was reading the comments , so he was talking to one of his homies from Fort mac (where we used to live 5 years ago ) and he said "thinkin about livin this last year to the fullest tho haha , what if you had 1 year?" what does he mean by "last year" ? does he mean hes going to try to commit suicide again? :(
