Why is tracking of people necessary?

I heard that anything with the word "smart" in it should be avoided. They can hold a limitless amount of private information about you which anyone can access as long as they have an RFID scanner. They can place these scanners in store and building doorways, freeway entrances and exits, and many other public and private places--exposing you to radiation and invading your privacy. Private crony corporations are pushing for this as much as our governments are.
