Are autographs still desirable?

It hit me all of a sudden, how autographs have become so obsolete. And understandably so. Everyone has a digital camera built into their cellphone and as the saying goes, "a picture is worth a thousand words". Pictures are more personal and they're hard proof that a) you met the person and b) he/she was willing to acknowledge you. And with everyones increasingly poor penmanship, autographs are barely legible. Do you still value them, and why?
