Why wont my wmp recognize my mp3 player?

I have already added songs to a hip street mp3 player, but now when i try to add more, my wmp cant seem to find it to sync with!! and i know that the hardware is added caz my computer says so! so now im wondering maybe if the batteries are in a need of a change and thats the cause of this issue???
