Hey musicians i gotta question for ya.?

I play the guitar my styles are jazz blues and blues based rock, so i was lookin to buy a guitar either a standard stratocaster or a standard telecaster, i dont have the kinda money to get a 1500 dollar guitar so i need the next best thing haha both the standered tele and strat are around four hundred i need one that can distort really well but on the same not give a nice jazz sound plz help??(and i relize i will need a pedal but still any info is good info haha thanks)
