Yasmin birth control pills?

ok...my doctor prescribed me a birth control called Yasmin.. Does anyone know anything about it? The main reason she prescribed them to me is because i kept gaining weight because of my periods. Does yasmin make you lose weight? Please give me any kind of information you have on it... thank you so much,
